What is Junior Lifeguard?
Designed specifically for ages 10 to 14, we work with participants to begin building the emergency response and swimming skills required to successfully pass the Lifeguard Certification course when the time comes.
Junior Lifeguards will become exposed to using a rescue tube, caring for spinal injuries, and performing in-water rescues. Participants will also learn also learn about and become certified in CPR, AED, and Basic First Aid.
To top it off, Junior Lifeguards can optionally "shadow" one of our Senior Lifeguards through a day of work at one of our numerous locations thoughout the state to gain insight into the work environment for which they can carry into any job going forward.

Since the goal of our Junior Lifeguard course is to get participants ready for the Lifeguard Certification course, there are no prerequesites to take the course.
In order to be eligible for certification as a Junior Lifeguard, each participant must:
In order to be eligible for certification, participants must demonstrate they now know the proper methods for responding to a variety of emergencies by correctly administering simulated care in seven performance evaluations.
At the completion of the course, participants must take and pass a written exam:
ASHI CPR, AED, and Basic First Aid exam: Miss no more than 13 of 53 questions (75%).

When lifeguarding on the field, many employers will require Lifeguards to purchase their personal rescue equipment. To ensure our Junior Lifeguard participants have the equipment they've already been trained to use before then, each participant will receive the following free of charge:

COVID-19 Safety Information
We're following guidance from the World Health Organization (WHO), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the American Heart Association (AHA) to impliment the following changes to course content:
Course sizes will be limited to 9 participants.
Participants will be required to wear face masks for the duration of the course (except while in the water).
Participants will be spaced no closer than six feet apart.
Face masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, and handwashing stations will be available at no charge for the duration of the course.
Participants will be required to wear gloves when using shared equipment, such as AEDs or BVMs.
Participants will be reminded to wash hands before the course, after the course, and before meal or snack breaks.
Tables, chairs, mannequins, and all other equipment will be sanitized after each time they come into contact with any participant.
There is no evidence to suggest that coronavirus can spread through properly maintained swimming pool water.
